In The Eye of the Storm

Went out yesterday in the face of DRIVING rain and heavy winds, simply to look at the carnage. And carnage is exactly what we found!! Trees down everywhere, blocking numerous (most in fact!) roads, a lot ripped power lines down, and a large area (home included) had the power off more than on! Good thing for tough 4x4's! The main River was well up, brown firehose, visibility MINUS 3 feet! Liquid looked damn near solid!
Took the rods along (always optimistic!) just in case. Arrived at the Sproat to see it was high, but only slightly coloured Yipeee!! We walked a fair ways down, running into a fella that had just worked the pool we were desiring, So, had a brew and a chat, then the fellow went on his way. First 2 casts produced a double header for me and the Natural - 2 NICE wint's in prime shape. # 50 realized !!! Managed another shortly thereafter, and 3 coastal cutts - one of which was well over 4 lbs - Nice buck, delivering a decent fight on the light stuff. Pix of this last guy will be posted when developed, as he was one of the prettier fish I've seen in a while! Released all fish BTW, don't kill many steelies, and VERY rarely cutts.
Continuing on, we 'surveyed' a lot of the upper Stamp drainage, marvelling at the destruction in the bush! ALL ponds, lakes and creeks that feed into the Stamp were incredibly high, backing up at each bottleneck in the majority of cases!! This suggests the firehose will not peak for a little while yet. Loads of snowmelt (mountains brown again), bolstered by the rains, will see to that! Hopefully the sky-water will end soon, and we can again pursue the new chromies, probably the last of the season. Don't think this will happen until sometime next week but well worth the wait!!
Hope to see some of you on the flow!!!
Cheers...

Hey there RowBee,
Dropped a little, still high, but definitely clear enough to fish!
New silver showing... :D
