Dear Sir,

This Friday (Feb. 2), Prime Minister Trudeau is holding his first townhall of the year at Vancouver Island University (VIU) in Nanaimo! Will you come with us to stand up for salmon at this public event? Bring your friends, family, neighbours and let's show the Prime Minister that British Columbians care about the future of our wild salmon.

Morning registration begins at 9 a.m. in the VIU cafeteria so come early!
The townhall begins at 11 a.m. in the VIU gymnasium. You can view the campus map HERE
.

When you arrive, you'll see our team of volunteers with a banner and wearing our Watershed Watch t-shirts. Come on over and introduce yourselves!

When it comes to salmon, Trudeau's government has talked a good game, but has yet to make good on commitments to restore the Fisheries Act and implement the recommendations of the Cohen Commission. Open-net salmon farms are still spreading viruses and parasites to our wild fish, and the feds have approved several fish-killing mega-projects. This summer, across the province, we saw some of the worst salmon returns on record. We need action NOW.

For further information, please visit our Facebook event page.

For the salmon,
Charly Caproff

Was just about to post this on the halibut thread. I’ll be attending and hoping to get a question in on the subject. Sure he knows very little if anything about it but would still be nice to bring it up (will get typical political answer I guarantee)

I do very much emphasize with your direction here!
And I very much hope you are successful in garnering more than a millisecond or two of Pony Boy's rather diminutive attention span!!

Wish I could join you, but I have yet another visit to the damned SawBones once again (an ever reoccurring theme these days... SIGH!). I do however wish you and those that can make it All The Best!!

Could not help myself in correcting your reference to the Rainbow Riders though...

Dear Sir,
When it comes to pretty much ANY serious or real issue, Trudeau's government has talked a good game, but has yet to make good on commitments ...

Cheers & Good Luck!!
Nog

PS: Every single Anti / Crazy movement out there that exists on or near The Rock are making announcements of the same showing, and suggesting their sheeple get there hours early. Just a Head's Up...

Be careful of these groups guys. They are lobbying to shut down the Chinook fishery and reduce some of the hatchery programs. There will be many there in attendance ( Georgia straight alliance, Suzuki etc) trying to work as group with the Orca whale issue. I recommend attending just be aware that's all.

Just need to have the largest group there, stand up for the rec fishery whether it be Salmon, halibut or the fishery as a whole.

With Vancouver Island and the lower mainland should be able to produce 1000's of rec angles. Thinking many more than the groups mentioned above.

That is if everyone gets up and comes out to support, it's the only way!

I plan on being there

I would be really surprised if you get in. Most of those "Town meetings" are pre-screened and somehow amazingly all the seats are gone before anyone actually lines up at the door.

Yes they are usually choreographed to put the "celebrity" in the best light

Wonder if there will be a video of this meeting we can watch? I believe some of the other town halls were video'd.

But for those calling for blockades etc. It's a perfect venue for a peaceful protest outside the meeting!

He is above any rules of the masses. Did you not hear or read his statement and excuse about his expensive Xmas holiday. A peaceful attendance will be good, I will be there with muzzle on, I believe the Suzuki crazies will rule the meeting but we can try.

Any Reports?

Kind of wondering how this went...

Was not there just happend to see some video on global this morning, looks like he was getting chirped pretty good by a guy in one of the front rows lol, then they said some people had to be escorted out for yelling out during his speech... so im gonna assume nothing about our salmon was ever discussed..

say NO to pipelines (safest way to transport any liquid) and ride a bike and put a sail on your boat.
say NO to Suzuki and friends who want to close sport fishing to save starving seals/sea lions/orcas.
say NO to Commercial fisheries so we Sporties can have it ALL (of course after food and ceremonial)
say NO to Open Pen fish farms. Because, its obvious why.
say NO more DFO swat team enforcement , Thats where the money is going to be spent.
say NO to any Eastern Politician,s that know nothing about the West Coast , but want to rule us.
Say YES to fishery enhancement . And Alaska style ocean ranching.
if you dont speak up , no one will hear you . :)
have a good protest.
