Herring in Gorge

Saw two fishers at the Admiral's road bridge this morning. Early birds or is there something happening? It seems a tad early.

I think the run began early Feb last year, so could just be a couple of keeners. Youll know when they arrive in abundance because itll be elbow to elbow all along the 1 side.

There's always some herring around. There's often a older fellow on the Selkirk trestle that catches a few. He just likes fishing and it's better than sitting in McDonalds with the other old men complaining about their pensions and such.

When is the best time to fish of the bridge, high slack? Rising tide?
