cant hear my VHF at all when on plane. anyone know if a good pair of headsets (i have bose aviation models with adaptor for the standard headphone jack) can be connected to a VHF radio ? I have a GX2200 standard horizon model VHF. some commercial boats seem to have a analog telephone like thing which plugs in...even something like that will work if its available.

Should be able to wire in a headphone jack to the external speaker output to listen, still have to use the mic to speak.

that would be ideal but is the 4 ohm output compatible with headphones which start at 8 ohms ?

Most headphones are well beyond 8ohms impedance. It is the low impedance loads that are potentially harmful to the audio output circuitry; unless proven otherwise I doubt your output is 4 ohms.

I have used airplane pilot headsets for many years on an open zodiac. No transmit function , but wired it to speaker jack. works great.
