GPS/Sounder units

I am in the process of looking for a GPS sounder right know. Will buy something in the next couple of days. I was leaning towards Garmin untill I read the earlier post. Any feedback would be great. I am looking to spend around 1000 for a colour model. Any suggestions.

I cannot speak for Lawrance as i have not owned it,
however i have a Garmin hand held GPS and a GARMIN plotter
and both have been excellent !

I have a Garmin 240 blue depth sounder and have no trouble with it once I figured out how to put it on dual control. Also have Garmin GPS color chart plotter which holds two chips and goes seemlessly from one area to the other. No problems with either and would buy both again. Color makes all the difference in the chart plotter and I find the non-color fish finder works just as well but not as sexy.
