Fishing enthusiasts can have their voices heard regarding proposed freshwater regulation changes at the 2019-2021 Freshwater Fishing Synopsis.

The synopsis provides information on provincial fishing policies in practices that govern non-tidal fish resources in British Columbia.

Anyone in the Okanagan who wishes to voice their opinion on the regulations or proposed changes is invited to attend the Fishing and Hunting Advisory Committee consultation meeting on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Riverside Conference Centre in Penticton.

The committee meets once every two years. It was established to help the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development to get input from the public on how fish resources should be managed.

Those unable to attend can submit written comments and statements up until July 30. For more information on proposed amendments or to submit written feedback, contact Eric Hagerat at 250-490-8236 or email eric.hagerat@gov.bc.ca.
