Forum Testing: Issues?

Yes, photo taken on iPhone. Looks fine on iPhone, but upload to site and it's upside down when viewing via Chrome on a Mac or Chrome on a PC. So rotate the photo and looks fine via Chrome on PC and Mac, but upside down on iPhone.

You see lots of sideways and upside down photos on THT as well.

Well then I give up! Lol. If I post pictures, you guys can rotate your heads, screens, or whatever ;)

HI PG. From the information in the link posted above, the question that needs to be answered is if the photo was taken on an iPhone. If the photo was taken on an iPhone the reason is because of the way apple changed the phone to allow it to take pictures faster. The software on the forum reads the orientation of the photo from the exif data that the iPhone writes to each picture.

Perhaps you are using an apple product or some other software on your computer that detects and displays the correct orientation for you. From the answer supplied above, it sounds like Apple has created this issue by writing incorrect exif data to the pictures to allow their phones to take pictures faster.

If you are not using an iPhone then maybe there is some other reason for the wrong orientation of the photos.

If you're referring to the new Apple phones, like the 6, 6s and 6+, I think you're wrong. I'm using a 5s and experienced the same issue.

I doubt this is an apple issue. ;-)

Well, then it must be Bill Gates fault. It certainly couldn't be the fault of free open source software like Android/Linux based software. HaHa

Quick question, and perhaps its answered elsewhere, but are we expecting older posts to be returned to the forum soon? I'm looking for old Port Alberni Reports. Thanks!

Just did a little test with the pics, and the only way a photo will post properly is if you take the photo in landscape (sideways not vertical) with your home-button on the right (iPhone). Any other orientation of the phones camera will result in an upside down, or sideways pic! Hope this helps someone else!

I wanted to email or PM a member today. I clicked on their name, and the only option related to messaging was 'start a conversation'. Is this a email or private message feature?

I guess the reason it's not called a private conversation anymore is the new software gives you the option of allowing multiple members to participate in the discussion you are having. So in that case, I guess the "conversation" is not quite so private anymore. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the old software had the option of allowing other forum members to join in. So I guess that's why the name changed. A little confusing at first, but no big deal once you get used to the new name or it.
