Hey All a friend of mine is looking for his first boat and found a 1992 trophy with a 150 Force motor. I have never heard of this motor.

Do any of you have any info on it as a windows search found me nothing?

Thanks,

Friends don't let friends buy Force motors.:D
Stay far away.
Have you tried a search on iboats?
I just Googled Force Outboards and tons came up.

Force motors arose from the old Chrysler outboard and were bought and marketed
as a division of Mercury.
They were a bare bones product that cheaped out on a lot of integral components resulting in frequent powerhead failures.
The 150hp 5 cylinder had particular problems with bent drive shafts and
cylinder scoring.

I had a 1993 trophy with a 120 force and no problems. They improved the bottom end in 93 for all thats worth. The motor is still running as far as I know but most are POS's. If the boat is a good deal get the motor checked out and start looking for a replacement. I ended up with a 175 Mercury on it and it worked out great, I wouldn't put anything smaller than a 150 on the back.

Good luck

Go into the deal assuming you will replace the motor after a season and make an offer accordingly.

Sorry Bayliner owners but I wouldn't buy a trophy or a Force

X3
I would have it checked... It might "not" make it through the season?
