AREA G WCVI CHINOOK FISHERY UPDATE

The Area G Troll winter fishing period on the west coast of Vancouver Island
is from October 01 to March 15 annually. The target catch for the current
fishing period is 10,000 Chinooks. Since October 01, 2012 there have been 2
Area G Troll openings on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The first opening
was for 2 days on October 10 and 11, 2012. The catch for the October opening
was 3344 Chinooks.

The second opening commenced on November 19, 2012 and is currently ongoing.
Please refer to FN1090-COMMERCIAL - Salmon: Troll - Area G - Areas 23 to 27 &
125 to 127 - Chinook – Opening for specific details.

For the current opening, November 19, 2012 to January 30, 2013 the catch to
date is 1529 chinooks.

Daily effort has ranged between 1 to 3 boats over the past week.

At this time the fishery will remain open.

At the January 09th Advisors meeting it was agreed to continuing fishing until
the total catch approaches 7,000 chinooks. At that time an Advisors call would
be scheduled to discuss further fishing opportunities.

An Advisors Meeting is being organized for the week of February 11, 2013.

October 10-11, 2012 - catch 3344 Chinooks Effort 79 boat/days
Nov. 19/12 - Jan.30/13 - catch 1529 Chinooks Effort 141 boat/days
Total catch - 4873 Chinooks
