fishing vancouver mainland coast

Hi :

In the past, I have used several fishing charters in Victoria and Steveston which I enjoyed very much. I will be in Vancouver on July 22 and July 23 and I cannot afford to use a charter, so I would like to drive along the coast to a maximum of 40 Km from the city of Vancouver to try out some ocean fishing. Can anyone recommend any fishing spots and provide recommendations on lures and bait. I would also like to know which species are in season and regulations regarding the use of hooks (barbed or non-barbed). I apologize for being so naive, but I would like to have a good day fishing near Vancouver.

Will you be using a boat?

As to the regulations, I suggest consulting the DFO website. There are some regulations that vary by location, it also has all of the species and gear limitations.

There are a few spots like the shoreline in West Vancouver from the mouth of the Capilano to Lighthouse Park.
Use small bright spoons/spinners low tide or early AM is best.
