Hi, does anyone know how long most lodges will run their main motors (100 horse+) before they will trade them off?

I'm curious, how are they abused? I would think they receive regular maintenance and virtually new... I can understand some rentals may have rookies using them and may be over revved etc...?

Fish camps start them up, run full pinned to fishing grounds, idle all day trolling, and then run full pinned back to camp.

I think you can get abused and under maintained outboards from anywhere, at least with the lease returns they get checked out and any outstanding repairs done at the dealer prior to re sale. Always ask for the print out, it doesn't tell the full story but it gives hours at idle and rpm ranges along with overheats etc
