When I was in Mexico I tried Fish Taco's! Wow are they ever good. That place in Campbell River/ Courtney Taco Del Mar has pretty good ones too. Anyone have recipies for these?

Take only what you need.

Fish Taco

We made Prawn Tacos a while back that were to die for :D

Boil or Saute Prawns in garlic butter til just cooked. Shell Prawns.
Heat refried beans, and spread thin coating on flour tortilla.
Add lettuce, onions, jalopena peppers, tomato, shredded cheese, guacamole, salsa, and sour cream.
Add Prawns
Fold up and eat.

Sounds good Sushihunter.
Don't forget the cilantro (you can add it to the salsa) and a squirt of fresh lime. [:p]

Better than good - Fantastic!

If someone had told me that they would put refried beans together with some wonderful, freshly caught Prawns, I would have told them it would be a waste of good Prawns.

I think the real deal was the freshly made guacomole that was made with fresh avocados they brought up from California the day before.

I like your idea of cilantro and lime juice! [8D]

Take hali fillet and drizzle lightly w/olive oil. Sprinkle with cumin, chili powder, cayenne and some sea salt.

Bbq or bake fillet until done, shred into bowl, decide if seasoned adequitly, if not, add whichever.

Serve with avacodo salsa or cabbage style slaw. (recipes for those too if you want them)

Cilantro if desired, a bucket of pacifico and Juans your uncle!!!

Gimee the gaff!!!

I wonder what type of fish they use in the BAJA for the Taco's? Obviusly something local, but what is it?

Take only what you need.

1 cup corn
3/4 cup diced red pepper
3/4 cup diced red onion
zest and juice from one lime
saute very</u> slightly
cool then add chopped cilantro

fry up some ling or halibut chunks in chipolte sauce (or just plain)

serve in tortilla's with several Corona on the side

Use whatever spices salsa's you want. I cut the halibut and shrimp into bite size pieces and deep fry them in tempura batter.

I think whatever white fish is handy.

But often I know it is huachinango, or red snapper.
That's one of my favourite Spanish words. WHA-CHIN-NANGO
You can almost taste the lime as you take that first bite.

Seriously, now that the hali is rolling in I can't get enough of these. How I prepare:

-fresh strips of hali sauteed in olive oil with salt and pepper till golden brown.
-prepare in a corn tortilla with tarter, shredded cabbage, red onion, avocado and drizzle with a little ponsu sauce which I make by mixing soy, mirin and lemon juice.

Everyone I make these for absolutely looses their mind they are so good.

The best fish taco I ever tasted was a smoked marlin taco. Next time any of you are in Puerto Vallarto Mexico, when you are at the airport by the arrivals you will notice a pedestrian walkway that takes you to the other side of the highway. At the end of the walkway on the other side there is a taco restaurant (can't remember the name)but its the only one there. Try the smoked marlin taco and a few pacificos. They do take a ways for the plane ride home.
