Etec tilt problem

For some reason the power tilt switch on the side my 90hp etec only works to lower the motor, it wont raise it. The switch on the throttle seems to work fine. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Any ideas what could be wrong?

Most likely corrosion in the switch on the motor. Had the same thing happen on a Mariner 115 3 years ago. Easy test is to switch the wires on the switch and see if it goes up and not down. TF

Had this problem a couple of years ago. I replaced the rocker switch on the engine. Wasn't too hard to do if you are shown how to. I don't remember all the details but you have to use a small probe to release the connectors.

Keep rocking the switch and press a little harder for up, probably a bad contact in the switch itself
