Electric Trolling Motor Battery

Hey guys I just bought a 38# thrust electric motor and am wondering what you guys find is the best battery to run them off of. And how long does it usually last for a days fishing would you bring 2 batteries?

I run 2 Trojan - 6 volt golf cart batteries (in series) which provides more than double the useable amps of a 12 volts deep cycle and they are designed for heavy draw while they provide significantly more charge/heavy discharge cycles than using 12 volts deep cycle batteries.

2-6volts is the best way to go. I had the same set up and would go away for the weenkend and have power for the motor for 3-4 days. I never ran the batteries dead. It was great.

I always used 4D or 8D batteries. The price was right and when fully charged I could fish for up to a dozen trips or more with them.
