Changing out digital counter on Scotty Highspeed 2106 B Downrigger

So one of my digital counters is starting to act up. I buy a spare, the new type with the triple "a" battery. Today I tried installing it, but the backing plate is different compared with what's currently on the rigger. My riggers are not that old, maybe 6 years. It does not align the same way at all. What am I missing? I'm pretty sure these things should just be a simple swap out process. I've got a D261-001 3419.

Mine are similar vintage, they switched right across.

Just replaced mine a few weeks ago. The new replacements are slightly different than the originals that came with a backing plate/cover. The new ones have two screws and a couple of plastic washers that engage the sides of the hole when you tighten them. Be careful not to over torque the screws as it is just plastic.

Ok. Now I get it. I’d unpackaged the counter quite a while ago and placed in my downrigger repair case loose. I’ll look for those thick plastics washers. Thanks.
