Canned Halibut ?

Tried it.. Dint like it... At all.. imho a waste.

i went on a guided trip to winter harbour years ago and came back with a pile of very large and we canned them i thought it was good -- i would only can the big ones

I've heard about some old timers that put a pinch of crab meat in with it. It infuses the crab flavor into the halibut and you end up with a can of flaky crab meat.

I tried that with cod once..... If there are still any left you can have them. Took forever just to give away

That being said I have met guys that love it.

Experimented with this a few years ago, worked really well if you put in a tablespoon of olive oil in with it. Great mild tasting meals-ready-to-eat. Excellent for sandwiches.

Really worked nice with adding flavour. The best was sweet chili sauce. Garlic and cilantro was good too, as well as pesto.
