Big Bar Lake

Big Bar is a classic Interior stillwater with great shoals and all the hatches you’d expect. In June, you should still be seeing good chironomid hatches, callibaetis mayfly and damsels will be at their peak and there may be early sedge hatches. Attractors like leeches (micro under an indicator or larger stripped) and scuds will do well but when a hatch is on you should be prepared to fish it for best results.

Cheers!

Big Bar Lake update.
I have been back for awhile now but thought I should share my outing with you. First of all what a beautiful lake, crystal clear water and big clean campsites. Fishing, Yes like everybody said it can be tough. Everyone caught fish ranging from 18-24 inches. The fish were the brightest silver bullets I have ever caught in a lake. The scrappiness of all were incredible. The fly of choice was what ever you found worked at that moment, shrimp to leeches, green to black and of course my favourite old Dr Spratley in olive or black. Will make sure I return to this gem of a lake.
