"We found for about the first two months after moving them to clean water we had really high mortality even though they are not being exposed to the dilbit (diluted bitumen) anymore," said Alderman. That Dilbit is toxic to young salmon isn't very surprising. I was surprised that mortality was only 50% to the group with the highest exposure, i would have thought it would be closer to 100%
