I bought one last month and finally installed it today. It won't find my position.Says 3 sats. But the window still says 'aquiring'.Stayed like this for a couple hours. My other gps locks on to 7 sats.Antennas are in same location.Anyone know what I am doing wrong.?am I missing something?

I installed one on my boat. I followed instructions to a T and it works. I mounted my antennae on the bow,no obstructions. Hope you get it figured out.

There is a 1-800 # you can call, the person you get seems real helpful. To aquire all the sats you can't be under any obstructions like trees etc.

Thats what i'm thinking. But it doesn't say that in the manual.
I've e-mailed Standard horizon and they say there is a update chip thats required. They gave me the # to C map.Amy @ c-map says this is correct.and would give the results I am finding. She gave me the # to there help desk. She said they will send me a card (with a $50 deposit)that will reprogram my GPS.Also,I pay the shipping both ways.Left 2 messages with them and heard nothing.
So,what I got was a brand new gps,in the box, unused.which doesn't work untill you get a special update card from the manufacturer. And they all seem to think this is fine.I've owned 3 Lowrance gps in the past(including current lcx15)and NEVER had to do anything like this before.I was talked into trying S H because I was told the C-map cards were superior but i'm wondering now.

If you're in Nanaimo take it into Harbour Chandler, they,ll upgrade it while you wait. Always nice to deal with.

I bought it from the Marine Store in Duncan.I doubt they can help with this.I support local business as much as I can.I know all the guys at Chandler so I think I will give a call to them and see what they say.If they can do it,it would be a lot faster than going through C-map.
I'll also stop by Lindstroms today just to let them know and see what they say .

UPDATE- just went and saw Tracy at The Marine Store. She called BS.Gave me a # to SH canandian warranty service center. Its in Vancouver.Talked to a guy there who seems to know his stuff. he says no problem. So I'm giving it to Tracy and she will send it to him.He says it is indeed a software issue.and he will put a asap on it.
fish-n-skins,you're right!Thats why we shop local.

I'd be somewhat PO'd. Why wouldn't they just exchange it for another? Especialy if it's been identified as having a problem.

I know what you mean.I'm a little confused about it all.I would have thought you buy a new unit and you should have no problems. This was a last years model.Last one they had.So there is no straight exchange.I would be happy to go up to new model but I think there is a big price jump. This one I bought for lower station steering as a back up.It replaced a Magellan that I didn't like.Geuss I shoulda stayed with Lowrance.<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>Lots of work installing it.Routing through everything.Hoping I don't have to redo it.

I'm not one for telling a man his buisness..........If it were me, I'd talk to the dealer and find out the name and number for their factory rep.

Then I'd call that person up and chew a HUGE hunk out of his a**.
Couldn't hurt. Chances are SOMETHING should come your way - Dean.
