Active Pass

I took the ferry today and noticed some guys fishing in Active Pass. Are the herring in there? I no little about Active pass but it has always interested me. I've heard that in the old days it was loaded with fish.

Could be herring showing there, was a small ball of them around Bare Pt. the other day.
I fished in Active Pass many years ago , must be at least 20 yrs anyway and the fishing used to be quite good , the greatest trick was watching for the ferry wash going against the rip if you were playing one at the time and being pulled along with it.

Theres a couple of old timers who fish Active for winters.One guy out of galiano.Fishes from a small,whaler style open boat.Probably wearing survival suits.Uses cut plug and gets the odd one.Until 1 year ago I was a fourty year resident of Galiano and grew up fishing there.Things have changed for sure.
