Governing the recreational dimension of global fisheries
https://www.pnas.org/content/pnas/116/12/5209.full.pdf

wowa....

"Sustainable fisheries policy must consider recreational
fisheries on equal footing with commercial
fisheries. Recreational fisheries are a relevant
and valuable component of regional, national, and
global fisheries and in many areas need better
governance and management."

yaikes!!!

"Paradoxically, even as the fish population rebuilds,
increasingly strict harvest regulations are required to
keep the recreational catch below management targets
because the influx of angling effort in response to a
higher quality fishing experience outpaces improvements
in the fish stock itself."

The UN is not in charge of Canada, which is a great thing considering their track record.

Well, then our job is to ensure that this does not become law.

Yes. Very Real. It is a UN based initiative which all member countries volunteer to participate or not. Then it is up to local government to steer in LAW.
