I just read an article on diseased fish payouts to the open net pen industry.
It said they've received $89.1 million dollars in compensation for diseased fish since June 2011. That's insane. I think that money would have transitioned them nicely to closed containment. Then they wouldn't have to worry about their claims that our troublesome wild salmon are passing viruses to their precious farmed garbage.
You'd think that if they actually believed wild salmon were making their fish sick, the farmers would want to move into land based closed containment. But, there is zero motivation for that because the status quo pays them out, regardless if their fish are healthy, or sick......
