Went out specifically for the coho today. Once again very foggy all morning.
The good news is the coho are still there in big numbers and gave hectic action with double headers. The not so good news is they are all very small in 2 to 3lb range. Nevertheless kept 2 hatchery fish each and let the same number of unclipped fish go. Also missed many hits and lost several. All action between 7:30am and 9:00am at 45-55' in 400-450’ of water on McKnight and AP spoons. Came in to do a couple of passes of Possession but with heavy fog and no ability to keep chinook, our hearts were not in it, and so decided to save gas and come in at 11:00am.

Same day as Englishman out there. Tried the trap for a bit but no luck on springs. Trolled back out deep and caught/released lost 20+ coho. Ended with a triple in 180 of possession. Kept 4 hatch for some fresh meat 3-4 lbs and released wilds up to 6ish. Felt like September out there just smaller fish.

Nugget: The past 2 or 3 years the majority of springs in August in the Beecher Bay area are under 80 cm. I would think maybe 80% would be under the 80 cm size limit, with most of the rest up to 26 lb. and only a very few above 26 lb.

Yes the government flinched. My hats off to the others in SFAB like Martin Paish that pushed for it. I heard about it wasn't sure if was going to happen. FYI coordinates above inside Beacher bay of 20-5.
By no means am I saying that new regulations are awesome, but at least it gives an option for some hatchery marked fish.

Just plotted the coordinates and basically just the northern half of Becher Bay. Pretty small area. Should make for some interesting combat fishing. Not sure what the DFO logic on this one is?
