2017 Conuma chinook forecast - rec and gillnet fisheries

Hi everyone, the Conuma chinook forecast for 2017 is 24k-50k. The Area 25 Harvest Committee agreed last week to use a mid-point of 38k so based on that forecast the commercial gillnet fleet has a TAC of about 13k. So if the forecast stays the same the gillnet fishery will start on August 15 for 2 weeks. If the run gets upgraded the gillnet fishery will start on August 8.

You may see a couple of gillnetters fishing in mid-July before the August commercial fishery but the fishing plans haven't been finalized. This will be to catch STEWARDSHIP FISH ONLY (750), which are sold with the proceeds going into the Nootka Sound Watershed Society to help produce chinook for everyone's benefit.

Tight lines.

Thanks for info..
I'll be in and out a couple times before those dates

Is this a little earlier than normal for a commercial gill opening?
