2016 Sidney Anglers Salmon Derby

Looks like this thread was lost so restarting it,

Less than three weeks away and ticket sales are starting to move quick now so don't miss out. It turns out with most of the salmon fishing opportunities in Washington State closed down and the dollar where it is they are taking advantage of the Derby to come up and fish, and have a good time.

There are already some big fish around. Last year's derby winner boated a 26lbr last week and rumors of bigger fish being caught.

Remember, all proceeds from this Derby will go to local Salmon Enhancement. Help us put more fish in the water.

Hey winephart, it's that late sudden rush of buyers. All ticket sellers are restocked with the last of the tickets. You can always try Paypal if you want to save a trip back.

Also dock space at Port Sidney is filling up so contact them ASAP to guarantee a spot to save yourself the 4:00 am. launch.

FYI, at tomorrow night's Sidney Anglers meeting the topic will be fishing spots around Sidney and where the reefs and hazards are in those spots. Hope to save new fishers some lead, and gas. The club has a wealth of knowledge to share if you ask.

The meeting starts at 7:30 at the Mary Windspear Center in Sidney, Monday April 25th.

For those of you that can't fish the Derby but would like to support salmon enhancement here is an option.

We have a 9.9 Suzuki 4 stroke, long shaft, power tilt, high thrust, electronic fuel injected kicker as a draw prize!

This has been generously donated by Sherwood Marine . All proceeds from this draw prize going towards Salmon Enhancement.

TICKET UPDATE: With favourable fishing reports coming in for all over the Sidney area and the great weather forecast for the Derby, sales of tickets have been brisk this weekend!

We have stocked up all of the retailers with the last of the tickets. Last year we sold out and it's looking like we will again this year but earlier!

I was at Canadian tire today buying some bait. The cashier asked me if I heard that a 70 pounder had won the derby. "The Sidney anglers derby" I asked? "Ya!" A legendary South Island fish for sure. Lol

She likely had it mixed up with the halibut derby but it gave me a chuckle about how fishing stories start.
