2016 Alberni Inlet

Mixed sockeye success today at China Creek. We went 5/10 but overall fishing was spotty in that area around us. Some guys had a few but there were skunks from capable guys this morning. Friday was very good there, friends having limits in 2 hours but yesterday was slightly slower and today much slower. No schools to work on this morning just little scratches. Still a good start to sockeye 2016:)

Went out Saturday morning until 11:30 and it was steady action all morning until about 9:30 then it was sporadic until we left. We fished between Underwood and sproat narrows. Lots of fish being caught. We hooked into 18

Looks like those fish started moving into the river. FN were having good success today. Fortunately the fishing in Barkley was decent. Lots of hatchery fish, and even one Chilliwack/Harrison white.

Fishin seems pretty spotty. Some people did well this weekend and others got nothing. I did ok, but it was like 1 strike every hour or so lots of effort required

There may be some more test seines today so well see what happens... with the cold wet weather would not be suprised if the fish just move straight up river

its no report, however was out in the boat on Sproat Lake Sunday and ventured down to the end of the lake/where the Sproat River starts... lots of water flowing and stood there for about 5 mins on log that crosses river. Had about 100 chrome and real nice sized sockeye (5-6 lbs +) swim right under us into the lake - so yes, if thats what I saw in 5 mins, pretty sure plenty are already givin 'er up the river and beyond.

Fished China Creek today with over 50 other boats. No fish for us nothing on the sounder and no other nets out. Fish must have gone through. FN netting lots of fish all around boat ramp.

Any word on sockeye success today ( Wednesday ). The boat is loaded and ready to go.

Looks like a nice string of warm weather coming after today......hopefully that will be enough to stall the next wave of fish. My boat is loaded and ready to go as well~!

Yeah, looks like we'll head up tomorrow afternoon and probably take some Chinook gear in case we decide to rip out to the sound.

if your comming out for Sockeye in the Canal DONT!
Went out this morning with a seasoned veteran of 40 years fishing for Sockeye and Nothing, not a bit in 7 hours.
Not a net in the water.
Looks like the rain and the Gill Netters from Pocahontas, out have had an effect on the catch, which was explosive 3 days earlier
Just my 2 cents

Also out at China Creek at 4:30 am and fished until 10 am. Not a single bite, nothing on the finder. Must be another opening for commies coming. Seen 3 or 4 by Underwood anchored.
