2009 four stroke vs 2018

Looking at a used one today. The question I have is: are the new models considerably quieter?

What size? My 2016 verado is extremely quiet and my 2017 15hp prokicker is annoyingly loud

9.9 yammy is what we are looking at used. I have a yammy 8 high trust as it is quite loud.

I had a 9.9 4 stroke that was a bit older I think. Very quiet. I now have a 2006 8h Yammy high thrust. Its not bad. Not as quiet as thet 9.9 though. My /06 115 Suzuki is very quiet. On idle I can barely hear it running.

My old DE had a 2013 yami 9.9 and it was loud. I could never hear guys trying to talk to me in other boats

Depends on the weather for my Honda 9.9

Calm day, low RPM and dead quiet. Some current or wind and I have to give it the slightest crack of the throttle and its loud. It's never bugged me before though.
