18.6 double eagle pod / power options

Hi, I was looking for a new hull for my yamaha 100 4 stroke and accidentally bought this.
index.php

An early 80s 18.6 de with a brand new pod. It won't work for my engine (need xl shaft and more power)
I looking for perspectives on size, I am leaning towards 115 yamaha 4 stroke to keep the weight down on the back, but is that realistically going to push this ok? Or should I be looking at a 150?
Cheers
Gerald

This is the boat i have ( not prodded) max HP rating is 150 hp. you will need all of that for sure! post up pics of your project as you go!

I have a 185 DE with a 115 4 stroke Yamaha. 115 is okay but when I re-power, I'll go with a 150. Go with a 150. Never hurts to have more power. And look into trim tabs as well.

I’d agree with a above 150 Yamaha, Suzuki 140 and the 150 merc are all good choices the extra power is nice..

UPDATE: I went with a suzuki 140 that I found with 300 hrs on it. I've been plugging away at this since last october and about to put in the water for the first time. Pretty excited (bottom photo condition when I bought it. I am less than 10k into this, so I think I have done pretty well in that regard. Nothing fancy inside but I think this will a good family boat. Thanks for the early suggestions on motors and trailers.20210712_165350.jpg 20210712_165411.jpg
