Reel obsession is great! But your looking at an hour each way from port Eliza in just travel.
So if that’s ok with you then both port E and RO are great options
Port Eliza Lodge in Nootka Sound on the Esperanza side. Awesome closeness to the grounds and accommodations/food/fish processing is well worth the visit. Prices are also amazing
Guiding in Nootka for the last couple decades the water on the northwest side of estevan point-Nootka sound side- has incredibly dangerous currents and water. On the charts this is labeled by the explosives or ammo dump.
I’ve made the run out of Nootka with flat calm waters but once I get out...
Been driving that road for guiding since 05. It’s definitely the worst I’ve ever seen it. Took a big pothole and the back window on my canopy blew out! I’d never tow my boat on that road. Bad enough with just a truck.

When you pull does it stay tight on the anchor line? Then just retrieve, remove and continue on? I used to place a small 2 by 4 piece of wood onto the anchor line with a bowline on a bite knot for easy removal once retrieved. This was in front of the float used to raise anchor.

Thank you all for the responses. Makes me feel better about that cost.
The hull must have 5 or so coats of paint on it with some bare patches. The labor costs involved getting that off, regardless of the process, is time consuming and costly.
Thanks agian.
If the boat was close to me I would definitely do it myself.
I’m in Prince George boats in CR. If there’s anyone with contacts for doing this project send me a pm. Not into 4K for a paint job I can’t see lol
Boats in the Campbell River area and want my bottom paint taken off and reapplied.
Had my boat mechanic shop give a quote from a reputable guy 3450$ plus tax!!
Is that about right? It’s a 24 foot whaler conquest. thanks
I’m in PG looking at end of sept trip to the Bulkley. Chatted with Mcbike shop in Smithers and they said it’s super slow right now? Coho still in the system but not much square tails yet.
Reports would be appreciated.
Back when I was looking at boats. The three top choices were Grady White, Boston Whaler, and Pursuit.
Basically they are very similar and have their pros and cons. I personally settled on a Whaler.
The major con for the pursuit which I hated was the low gunnel and no grab rail or toe rail to...

See you all the time on the water. I guide outta the Boston whaler conquest 235.
Anyhow my season is now done and upon reflecting it makes me sick.
Slowest, brutally slowest season I've seen in 19 years of doing this. There's been slow periods in the past but nothing like this bad inside...
Selling lies!!
It's better than the Nootka side but barely
Offshore blowing 40 the last 10 days nobody is going out.
There were some fish at tatchu but blown off by 11
Back in the mid to late 80s I fished in my backyard-Samsun Narrows, Pollier pass, Thrasher. These locations provided awesome chinook action, but once the Georgia basin changed the fish weren't there. We picked up stakes and made the drive to Cheanuh marina every weekend to fish Sooke. Put the...
By the time summer rolls around the prawns are gone!! at least the last 5 yrs anyhow! Had spots that we great but the last few years comes up with a trap full of slime eels!
not fun!
Had lots of big number days on the cowie in the 90s and early 2000s. In the last ten years though dismal. Lots of skunk days on the boat, and shore! There were spots that produced all day long!! they are long gone from the river changing yearly. Not the same holding water that there once was!
