Sorry to hear about your loss, Mark. Definitely keep my eyes open. So somebody stole that in Alberta? What I'm not getting is how anyone thinks they can hide this. Bigger than a breadbox - and doesn't fit in a backpack. Seems to be quite a bit of effort and high risk to steal this boat. Might be worth emailing all the Small Craft Harbour Authorities and the Port Authorities and giving them this info. If it ends-up @ one of these docks - it'll be seen:

I would bet that it is. Same province it's from, same size, same color, same brand motors.. If it is though the thieves must have changed the registration # on the bow cause that BC # that's on that one in the link you posted isn't a real registration number with TC.
Even the same town it was stolen from, hope this a**hat gets more than a slap on the wrist, but he is already released so he probably will get a light sentence

There has to be more to this story, who goes to a random Alberta town, rips off a $300,000 boat and hides it basically in plain sight after towing it home for 10 hours?

Methinks you must be right, ab1752. Maybe keel-hauling would be an appropriate sentence, ST?

Ya… That’s the Boat. I was just reposting for a friend on Facebook. They are happy to get it back.

Thanks for all the help. I figured it would be going that direction, no water big enough for that boat for a long way East.

Steal a man’s boat is worse than taking his wife… guy should be shot with a ball of his own sh*t.

Buggers even went to the trouble of repainting & renaming it, Mark. It would be an interesting story of how it was tracked down. Sounds like a professional criminal ring. I hope that comes out in the news. Apparently this useful website was used:

I have passed it on

Until they tighten up on licensing and doing a proper and enforced transfer system there will always be a problem. When I bought my boat a bunch of boat owners advised to not License it or I’d be hit with a 12% tax. A friend in Transport Canada said “yeah you might get away with it, but if it gets stolen it goes back to the last licensed owner”. I’m willing to bet a lot of boats out there would go back to people who haven’t owned them for years. Also wonder how many people might get called to pay for hauling away a wreck they sold years ago because they are the last owner of record. All that to say the whole transfer process is pretty lax.
