Corona Virus: What are you doing to contribute to reduce the curve?

citing that bank maggots are too close together, ramps are crowded.

ridiculous to close it... just make rules and fines!!
Man at this point they should just focus on the blatant offenders that are gathering in parks and passing 40s around. Do kids still drink 40s? They hit that Timmies downtown (good riddance the world could use less of that garbage), that's a good use of resources.

the world has gone a bit crazy.
you cant stop a virus. social isolation works somewhat if this was a limited infection. but it stays on surfaces over two weeks and half a million people have got confirmed cases. that means over 15 million infected basically. and now its jumped to dogs and dogs can get it too (first dog tested positive in china yesterday). people who have it are now also testing positive for it (second wave in china).
its just going to grow exponentially. theres no stopping it. everyone will get it. just go about your day normally. yes you may die. but you may also die due to a car accident or the flu. this hysteria is completely nuts.
so what am i doing to reduce the curve ? absolutely nothing. if i get it i get it. if i dont get it, i dont get it. i go about my day normally.

They want people to stay home and limit travel etc.

Yup, I’m staying home and drinking...oops, I guess I’m responsible for the 40% increase in business at the liquour store. ;):D

Although my job has been deemed ‘essential service’, along with everyone else.
Seems like almost every job is deemed as essential service.

Yep, I’m staying home and away from all my friends and family. Except I have to go to work because I am a essential service as well. Here’s what I see when I’m driving around, today in parksville 15+ blue hairs standing in line to get into the bank of Montreal and 10+ blue hairs standing in line to get into scotia bank. Wednesday morning I was waiting to get into the home hardware in nanaimo and guess what! The only other people there were seniors... were all staying home to save these people and there out acting like they own the world...

I had a interesting conversation with someone today. They asked me what’s going to happen to all the children in third world country’s that depend on tourism to eat? It was something I hadn’t thought about, but now I wonder...

Don’t get me wrong I feel horrible for our health care workers and actually donated my box of N95 masks to my neighbor that is a nurse because they want them to reuse there masks... but come on! Don’t try and tell me I can’t go fishing if I have to go to work and people can hang out in line at stores with each other...

End of rant... You’ll find me out on the water...

Yeah, I get that but fishing is about as risky as bird watching. Even our medical health officer has said it's important to get outside: take the dog for a walk or whatever. As important as maintaining physical health is attending to mental health. Get outside, do something, just stay away from others.

The lady in my life is an essential service worker and has also mentioned a lot of elderly people out picking up a couple nonessential items.
Not good stay home save a life and save the health care system from your stupidity.

It's not about you getting it. It's about you getting it and due to your ignorance and selfishness you could give it to someone that might die....
Please rethink your actions.

and what exactly is your master plan to prevent someone else from getting it ? its growing exponentially WITH the complete shut down of the economy, WITH social distancing, WITH the end of travel. and all the other rubbish measures which arent doing squat other than wrecking the entire economy. its a virus. its airborne. it stays on surfaces for more than 2 weeks. dogs and now cats are getting it. you are going to get it. i am going to get it. your neighbors, friends, countrymen etc are going to get it. sitting in your house until the end of time is not the solution. its not going to stop in 2 weeks. its not going to stop in 2 months. its not going to stop in 2 years. the person who handles your grocery supply, the shipper who delivers your packages, the store clerk, the mail truck, the grocery truck, the grocery store, the HVAC units at the grocery store are all going to be contaminated eventually. and youre going to eventually get it. because you have to go out to eat.

So it is true that until a vaccine is available, most of us will get it EVENTUALLY.

What we are trying to do is use social distancing and isolation as a means to slow the spread of Covid 19. This allows the capacity of our health system to keep up with demand. We have limited resources so it's important to avoid overwhelming our available equipment and care providers. If we do little or nothing, very difficult decisions will need to be made as to who lives and who dies. By taking appropriate measures the hope is that you and your loved ones can get the care needed, when needed.

and thats a lovely thought. its also not working since the exponential spread is growing...exponentially. while its nice we arent overwhelming our healthcare system we are overwhelming the economy and basically throwing a wrecking ball at it repeatedly. and there is no end date in sight. which means we will end up wrecking our economy and eventually when people get fed up and basically start behaving normally it will overwhelm our healthcare system anyway with the wrecked economy to deal with as well. it would be way better to open up stuff normally but put some restrictions on clothing (only people with masks and gloves allowed outside or to enter any store or to travel) rather than keep everyone closed in until they take matters into their own hands and go out normally.

You can stop the spread and lower it a lot. There is already examples of it. Even if you opened the economy right now i doubt the business and people would go back to work. No one's going to want to go out until they see the cases coming down.

Except in BC, at least, it’s not growing exponentially - not even close. Due, I expect to a hell of a lot of people heeding the advice of experts, rather than the advice of crackpots.

We have the facts from some very credible specialists. Social isolation will work. They are only asking for your selfless cooperation for a short while. The economy is being disrupted, for sure, but there are some initiatives in place to ease the pain. As much as we would like to believe differently, things will not be back to "normal" for quite a while. The length of time is largely dependent on our behavior. Fatalities do not help our economy, either.

Sounds like you’re from Italy

I've been following all the comments in this discussion and the one regarding the stock market and Covid 19. Not sure I can clearly make my point but I'll try.
Fact, overall only a small percentage of people will die. I'm not worried about myself but my parents, wife, friends, and others that have underling health issues that normally are not an issue as well as other friends neighbours with auto-immune issues or fighting cancer or other health issues. They are still part of society and a big part of their loved ones and friends life. I do not want to be responsible for infecting them or see them being taken down when simply we can just stay away from each other.

If anyone has seen a loved one or close friend with a serious health issue or terminally ill they usually close their eyes and say "I'll trade all my money to see them live"
I don't know of anyone that says" It's OK my investments are safe let's see how this goes" If you work hard and plan you will survive the downturn. It will be painful but better than seeing someone you love die.

The ICUs are going to fill up and no room for anyone of us that may suddenly need a spot in the ICU because at any moment the S#$t can hit the fan and you will need a bed in the ICU. Until it happens to you, take my word it can happen suddenly, you will need an ICU bed.

It's only been a few weeks. No generation in over 70 years has had to go through anything "rough" like this. Between 1915-1945 that generation went through TWO world wars, the Great Depression and the influenza of 1918. Only a handful of them are alive today and I bet if you went and asked the few still living they would call us a bunch of *******. They would say suck it up and carry on. I need to state this only applies to a small part of the world. Other parts of the world have been going through civil war and atrocities we can't even imagine over the last 70 years.

FYI, I am a self employed one man labourer capitalist my entire life that has never received a regular pay check or government check ever.
Parents were immigrants that escaped a communist country for a better life.
