Heads up that Lansdowne Rd is closed at Cadboro Bay Rd so if you're headed to Cattle Point to look at wildflowers you may want to adjust your route. I can't find any info on Oak Bay's website about time frames to reopen.

Also, the oak bay 1/2 marathon will screw up traffic on Sunday.

Well fished all weekend for halibut. Anchored Sat for 5 hours. 7 dog fish, one was huge. Nothing else.
Sunday started with Salmon went 4 for 8, nice size 12-14 lbs all hatchery that I got to the boat and release. Then drifted for halibut for 5 hours over some great spots, nothing only 3 dog fish and a red Irish lord. Was a beautiful weekend, tons of salmon around, can't say the same for halibut.

Late report but got out Sunday morning and the halibut seemed to be hungry, got our 2 in a matter of half an hour, and had more biting the other rods that we quickly got off the bottom as we reeled in the second one. 125cm and 126cm it was a beauty day out there!

Good for you guys
We got one skate in five hours

Well isn't that interesting

Must have pulled 20 dogfish looking for halibut today, too much work and no fun by myself.I finally have a boat I'm really happy with and day's like today make me consider selling again.GRRRRRRR.

We fished out Constance way today for halibut and got lucky landing one around 30 or so using a Gibbs Hali Hog trolled slowly in around 300' of water.
started around 8 and hit this fish at 9:30 and quit at 10am.
Lots of boats in all the usual spots. Know of several others caught, but the dogs are bad. They are even taking the rubber. Anyone trying spoons or know of a good way to avoid the dogs!

My daughter and I lucked out two halibut in the boat by 8:30. There were a fair amount of dogs playing catch. She's only 11 and did her best to help real the dogs up. She sure had a big smile when the first one came up then it was like dad wheres the halibut we need to get another one. Today was the first time we've ever caught two in one trip. They weren't monsters but just the right size for us at 33 lbs and 20 lbs. It was a wonderful day on the water.

Yes we got about 25 dog fish in matter of 2 hours,
In the mix we got lucky to get a 37 pounder haly
Good day

I feel better now,a 30 something hally and only 4 or 5 dogfish and 3 ratfish.Change in tactics (bait)made the difference I think.

I was out with Double Eagle 2X on Monday in nice calm conditions. We launched out of Esquimalt Angler's dock just after 6am. With perfect calm tides and hungry halibut, we were able to get our limit by 10:30. The magic bait of the day were salmon collars.

I was off oak bay from 4:30 - 7 last night. Brutally hot bringing up 30+ dogfish and one massive skate. No hali love for me but one of the nicest evenings on the water! I actually bought a whole frozen sockeye salmon from the grocery store for bait and, over the course of a few hrs, the doggies ate the entire thing. Anyone use hali scraps as bait for hali?
