With the Spring and Coho salmon beach fishing slowly approaching I thought I would share our adventures fishing on the East Coast of Vancouver Island beaches. We use long ultra lite long rods built to handle heavy salmon but flexable to cast 3/8 and 1/2 ounce lures. Using 8 pound main line and 4 feet of 12 foot floracarbon leader we can obtain cast with the wind in our favour 200 feet +. We use lead lures, spoons and spinners. Our reels are small 9-10 ounces. Largest chinook landed so far 22 pound 4 ounce.

Thanks for the video
Big fan of casting for game fish from shore or rocks. From South Africa and did a lot of spinning for a variety of fish from shore. Occasionally a big shark would bite the lure as well. Caught some big Giant Trevallly from shore. One holiday hooked 6. Landed a small 20 lb fish. Rest of time got spooled.
Here in Nanaimo some of the rock fishermen has done very well every summer on big springs. Tried a few times but need to improve on my skills
