Official E-Petition to Government re: Firearms Legislation

Cali, you keep citing American examples to promote legislation in Canada. Culture produces most of what your talking about and as you probably know, there are some differences.

The laws here are fair. I agree with the current hoops that must be jumped through as it has seemed to produce a higher quality of legal owners.

What I don’t understand is that you and your merry band of brow beaters never seem on board with handing down the maximum penalties for criminal ownership/use of guns.

Just why exactly is it you want to focus on attacking LEGAL ownership when statistically they aren’t a problem?

Rebuttals. facts. What do any of your merry band here care about such things. Like the fact all the civilized western countries with significant gun controls have a fraction of the gun violence and crime of the one that doesn't? You are all so worried about gang shootings, in the US there is on average 1 shooting per week perpetuated by a child under 4. That's just the reported ones that result in injuries or deaths, more shootings than occur in Vancouver in a year from anyone. Facts, evidence.......your ilk or bullies like Iron Noggin could be hammered over the head for a month with them and absorb absolutely nothing. The bill is in third reading, its a done deal and more could be coming. Your hero Andrew Sheer is well behind in the polls and his abhorrent ignorant views on social issues pretty much assure another Trudeau government (and no I'm not a liberal, have only ever voted Conservative or Reform but will not ever vote for Sheer).

Mmm better check your facts there sport. Your God Prime Minister Groper is ahead by a hair and he still has a year of failures to look forward to.

For those who are not familiar or knowledgeable in the laws of Canada wrt gun ownership; and wish instead to have an informed debate on issues w gun ownership in Canada verses the problems in the states - I recommend in reading up first at whatever reliable websites you can find, including:

Please do us all a favour and don't confuse the US and Canada...

The motion, and potential federal government action would have done nothing to prevent the tragedy, yet these politicians are content to push their anti-gun agenda forward anyway.

According to Global News, Hussain had been arrested twice under Ontario’s mental health act. Regardless of any possible terror connection, police involvement compounded with his family’s admitted knowledge of severe mental health issues mean there’s no way he could legally acquire a handgun.

It’s yet another reminder of how kneejerk reactions to horrific crimes impact only the law-abiding. The gun control advocates pushing these ‘solutions’ know nothing about the current laws and how strict — and effective —Canada’s licensing regulations really are.

This is way off the original topic and the reason why these threads never last. We give latitude to the hunting side of things here as we get the crossover with fishing, but this has now morphed into a political narrative that is far removed from the OP and far out of the range of this forum.
