Will the Liberals' 'common sense' gun law changes do anything to address the spike in gun violence?
New gun control bill doesn’t go far enough in tackling disturbing trend in gun crime, critics say

LOL!!

In response to these pleas, the federal Liberals are pointing to their multi-million dollar spending plan for a guns-and-gangs initiative, and new legislation Ottawa says will tighten the country's firearms regime and keep more guns out of the hands of criminals.

What a complete load of horsepucky!!

There is nothing, repeat NOTHING in C-71 that addresses either gang or criminal gun use whatsoever.
In fact, it is an ill disguised scheme to further restrictions upon legal firearm owners, and nothing more.

And to add insult to injury in this case, Pierre's Idiot Child and his cronies have taken, and are taking even more steps to reduce the penalty sections relating to Serious Crime matters.

No surprise of the slant of this particular article seeing just where (CBC) it is coming from...

But the only ones they are fooling are themselves...

Cheers,

The scorching heat wave ravaging Ottawa isn’t the only thing heating up. The great Canadian gun debate continues to draw attention and criticism of the Minister’s lack of action to combat gang violence – a serious growing threat, while he continues to wage war against duck hunters and sport shooters. Bill C-71 may be sitting idle over the summer recess, but gang violence isn’t. The Canada day long weekend was a bloody one in the streets of Toronto with 11 people shot just over the holiday. Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders states that 0ver 90% of the violence that has the city under siege is gang related, yet the federal funding has yet to be sent.

What happened to Saskatchewan ??? They have a great hunting heritage ?

They do appear to be largely missing the boat?
As I recall, they lost their two main hunting forums over last winter.
Maybe the word simply isn't getting out enough there??

Makes ya wonder alright...

A crazy horrible incident with the same BS called upon by those in power. Statements like there is no need for a gun in Canada's cities demonstrate how STUPID and dumb these politicians are. Does the city councilor who made the statement have any idea what they are talking about. These shootings are nearly ALWAYS done by a dreg of society, gang member or criminals yet the councilor and news report targets guns in the city. Next= They will make a LAW to not allow guns in Toronto. These stupid people still think that the illegal members will now change their ways and Toronto will be safe. Back to my definition of crazy. Round and round they go.

JT and his merry fools will use this as ammo for Bill C-71. Lets attack legal gun owners so that the criminals cant have guns. Brilliant.

The timing of this could not have been planned any better for Pierre's Idiot Child and Bad Dale.
With one of the largest petitions ever submitted to government about to land (cut-off is this Thursday if you haven't already signed btw) this provides them with the ammo to simply ignore that - at least in their little minds it will...

And when you have cucks like this mayor beaking off:

"From the scene of last nights incident of terror Toronto Mayor, John Tory, addressed the citizens of Toronto and local media in a press conference when he said, “we have a gun problem in that guns are too readily available to too many people. The only people that really are supposed to have them are the police and very limited numbers of other people, and that is clearly not the case. And we clearly have to do more about it because there are too many people carrying around guns and using them in whatever manner they use them."

That plays right into their hands as well.

Horrible happening. Sickening to now witness the political mileage that is about to be made on the bodies... :(

Might also be timely to have a reasoned, polite but firm response to the mayor's comments emailed to the journalist and to the paper? Should be a thing called "accountability" for self proclaimed "leaders"???

Not simply them.
Pierre's Idiot Child's bought & paid for media is also a large part of the misinformation stream:

And if you think it mere coincidence that Stats Can came out with new numbers reflecting rises in crime, I got a bridge you might be interested in...

Funny thing that the pet CBC fails to note is that the actions they so much apparently abhor are perpetrated by CRIMINALS.
And that with our current Catch & Release form of a "Justice System", none are being held accountable for their actions involving firearms.
Nope, makes more sense to them, True Idiot and Bad Dale to punish legal, law abiding owners...

Sad,

Very early but the new Ont Premier did say something smart, "the PC government would restore funds to the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (TAVIS). The anti-gang and anti-gun task force, formed in 2006, was disbanded last year amid criticism that persons of colour were being necessarily stopped under the program. (Maybe they were the ones who HAD ILLEGAL GUNs). He also said what was being and has been done is not working, maybe he will see thru the Lib round and round, one can only hope. They ALL can't be so stupid. Feminist butt grabber JT may try and muzzle him to ram us with C-71.

Does anyone know if the shooter got a short term ATT in order to take the gun to a place other than a gun range? He could get in a lot of trouble if they find out he didn't get an ATT.

Signed the smart young mans petition. Not guessing the merry fools in Ott will listen, change or cancel C-71, OR do anything to stop illegal gun crime and violence. Still say they really only want a non armed population. You know **** like.

Just read a story by Toronto police officer, he states that LEGAL gun owners are buying guns and selling them illegally for a profit in Toronto. One individual made a supposed $100000 in a few months. I hope someone challenges them on this what I think to be BS and another coincidence right before JT's new attack on legal gun owners. All other C-71 crap is irritated by the writer as the way to save Canada and stop these violent crazy acts. Clearly they drank the cool-aid, nothing about attacking the illegal people, in fact they ignore this whole fact, the poor person who did this crazy thing was possibly sick.

So the police chiefs association has concerns that this legislation does not make it easy enough for police to access the store records, and that significant numbers of guns originating in Canada are ending up in criminals hands, but we are supposed to side with the merry band of Alt-Righters who post on guns incessantly on a fishing site? I lived in the US long enough to see this type of communication from the NRA. Deflect to "gangs have guns" therefore no restrictions should be imposed. Deflect, Deflect Deflect, its been an effective strategy for one of the most vile organizations in the US. And like the NRA your lot believe after gun violence is NEVER the right time to discuss controls. Getting better information on the movement of legal guns is not an either or in relation to initiatives to mitigate gang violence as MP MacGregor correctly points out, the issues are related but separate. Even in the US gun stores are required to record all transactions that can be accessed by policing agencies, it seems like common sense stores are required to do it in Canada. And oh no, private gun sellers will need to record who they sell the gun to and verify they have a PAL and are not a gang banger? Clearly a prospective law abiding licence holder should be OK with a check past just the last 5 years . But these initiatives don't make gangs disappear tomorrow so nothing should be done .

I await the vitriol, except from Nog who may have me on ignore, so maybe my posts don't show up on his feed. Maybe he could make an exception for old times sake. :p
