Apparently he is getting shuffled out of the portfolio tomorrow. We will see if it is a BC’er put in instead. Doubtful though.

Who is Wilkinson ??? Anybody know anything about him ??
Was running for Liberals in Burnaby/North Shore against the Pipeline expansion but to win praise from his master now sings the pipeline praise like a trained seal feeding at the trough. His gruel just got sweeter.

Worked with Suzuki group in past as the CEO at Questair Technologies a fuel cell company which also was owned partly by Ballard Power which also had ties to Georgia Straight alliance, so its not as good as everyone thinks. This guy is extremely green and aligned with enviro groups in past work. Be cautious. Only time will tell but I believe his posting is strategic, and could have to do with his dealings with enviro community.

If anyone thinks this appointment is about advocacy for sport fishing because he is from BC are delusional. In order to win next year the liberals can afford to lose a couple of BC seats, but need to keep their BC Urban/Suburban voting base that is much more closely aligned with the Environmental NGOs and people who hold similar views. Vancouver Island will vote NDP making it again irrelevant to either governing party. The Conservatives inexplicably selected a leader with personal views on social issues that are repugnant to most Canadians, pushing them further to the right and assurring they will not be a factor in Quebec or Atlantic Canada. The praries will continue to be conservative while Ontario and to a lesser degree BC will be the main battlegrounds. Spend 5 minutes on the threads in these forums and it is pretty clear this community is skewed to the right of the political spectrum, a significant number the far right. The Liberals do not need to cater to the demographic on this forum, and are unlikely to do so with the appointment of Wilkinson.
