While trying to straighten and install a copper temperature sensor into my dad's 1964 453 GM left hand after replacing the manifolds, we broke the line. It fizzed. My brother says" Smell it, what is it?" I didn't smell it, fearing paasing out or worse, and later found out it was ether escaping under pressure.

We need a new sensor to keep the water temp alarm working, but so far can't find anyone in town that deals in engine parts this old. Anybody know where we ca look for a replacement part for this engine? Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks BDA and NL. Much appreciated. I'll take some pics next time out, and check out Port Kelly and 99 trucks.

I wonder if you couldn't use the copper line out of 1 if the new mechanical gauge kits sold at lordco and such

If it is one of these, they are still available. Often what happens is that the tube siezes inside the adapter, so when you loosen it, it just breaks. Put a thin coating of grease on the new tube. If it is a murphy switch, ie it will shut down the engine if it exceeds a set temperature, you should be able to get one there as well.
