Fugly-2 -Less Fugly-The rebirth of a Legend...

Need more photos....... :)

Are you able to get out that far to start that thing safely?

Are you going to clean up the bottom paint or remove it?

When are you going to take that boat out for a spin? Be sure to take more photos when you do

BuzzBomb said what? :) What does he know :) LOL Sorry Chris

was hoping to get the wiring under the dash done first , im sure I can climb out there to start the kicker, might take it down take it for a quick spin around the bay just to make sure everything will work at that height, if I had known I could not fit it on the transom I might have opted for the tiller-less model but I do have an extension and am considering a panther/intellisteer option.. makes sense for someone who fishes alone as much as I do.. bottom paint is a none issue at this point...function not fashion...

Interesting - I was able to mount the kicker next to the main engine on my former boat. Looks like the same space.

You can also splice into the trim and starting switches and have them in the boat so the only thing you have to reach for is the tiller handle.

We looked at that BigB it might fit but the steering cable extends thru the tube of the main motor and would make it not work.. It looks deceiving in the pictures but this hourston is only 6 feet across the transom..

Don't buy a panther Jeffry. They work great when they work, but break all the time. I went through many before I switched to intellisteer which is a much heavier motor with a steering cable that goes through the tilt tube. Again I did like how the panther worked but had lots of let down days with no way to steer my kicker. The one problem with intellisteer is battery power of the remote which I am told is corrected on the new remotes. It also reacts just a little slower than the panther did. It worked all last summer though.

I have herd nothing but issues with the panther system, just exploring all the options at this point...

If it's in your budget TR1.
For a smaller boat where you are at the wheel anyway EZ steer works fine.

Iv'e been following along and it is absolutely stellar that all these guys are helping with your project, you started out with a good deal and the Fugly 2 is turning into a great deal and is going to look and fish beautifully. I look forward to seeing you out on the humps landing that elusive 30 lber. Carry on!!!

Thanks JUST ONE MORE! I have almost blown the budget but i am close, just mailed off my application for PCL so really i am armed with enough paperwork to keep the water police off my butt... Going to dunk it for a sea trial soon.. Then kicker steering and electronics upgrades are left...

Tr-1 is out of the budget realm... Im not buying into all the autopilot stuff just need it to steer left n right from the wheel or remote, if an eze-steer will work i may go that route but dont want to buy it not knowing if it will work..

It's just some ready rod bent to shape with ball joints that bolt on to each outboard and spring clips that screw onto the rod. Sorry I can't remember the brand.

You might be able to attach one ball joint to your tiller.
