Anybody else's HDS do this under power. Randomly looses bottom too. Just bought new unit and would really love to take someone out who knows the Lowrance and could help me set it up and give a tutorial. Does anyone have links to any good tutorial videos?
Thanks.

Oops extra pic. That is the old system I took out. Not sure how to delete pic. Was going to post that in for sale section.

There's a decent setup vid on the salt patrol site, and yes they do lose bottom from time to time,
Take it off any auto modes and set your depths manually
Set transducer for deep water
And use 50khz when at speed for better tracking also make sure transducer is tilted 3-4* down

Take Auto sensitivity off first.. With freshwater lenses, algae blooms, etc that we find in our local waters, auto sensitivity is a surefire way to loose bottom. Then make sure you've set ping speed to max, set to "General Use" (freshwater, saltwater, slow trolling etc are all garbage). Now reduce sensitivity until the screen clears up, then bring it back up to the point that it just starts to clutter up again. Are you fishing in the Alberni Canal? Often with the amount of traffic there, your sounder will get confused with all of the other sonar signals bouncing off the walls.. the only solution is another frequency or a way more powerful transducer... a lot of guys running the 1000w transducers there, knowing their signals will mess up everyone around them..
