Heading out there for Easter! Any reports? And anything I should try! Staying at the Mabel lake resort at our friends cabin! Have a 17ft Lund Soft Top! And have all my kootenay lake gear! Let me know ASAP

I always have found Mabel to be pretty slow. My best hook has been the rainbow apex and uv purple apex in the 3-4" size.

This is an old thread but Mabel Lake has a special place in my heart, I spent a lot of time on it as my parents had a summer cottage at the resort. Ice likely will be coming off now, that is one very deep and COLD lake. Once the spring runoff starts fishing will be in the tank. When the freshet drops rainbows are plentiful with light gear and a spinner, wedding ring or red devil are deadly off Cottonwood Creek mouth on the east side of the lake. You want to go for the big boys a down rigger is almost mandatory.
