2020 Winter Harbour Reports

I guess the obvious spots would be Cliff point and the light house which do hold coho during summer months. The guides also tack around Mahatta river, due low water conditions there are probably some staging there. The narrows also can be good but it seems to be a small window 1 hour before the end of the ebb tide is the time to be there. Im pretty sure you can still keep one wild in those areas too. May want to double check the regs.

The narrows is not as slim a window as you think-switch ends with the tide also just to the left of the cole harbour ramp there is a net pen and the coho return to there and if there are jumpers it is a fun spin fishery

Bottom Fishing was stellar aswell, we got all our lings and Halibut! We got one spring, but we didn't try for salmon that much!

did you stay out overnite Marty,how many rods,outriggers? I'm thinking of going next year but haven't decided on WH ,Tofino or Bam to leave from.

No we didn’t stay out over night I didn’t feel it was worth while since it was only a 1:20 minute ride. We where running 6 rods and two hand lines. For any beginners I recommend you go to pacific net and twine and buy there tuna starter kit. It was awesome having everything setup and ready go. The kit really killed it for us!

Anyone having any luck in the sound? Fished the usual spots yesterday that have been good in the past all the way out to cliffe with no luck...very quiet as well with no surface action on such flat water...have the fish gone to spawn or just gone? Thought with the lack of rain we might get lucky... thanks in advance

Should have a report in a couple hours. Just about to put the lines down for coho.

Tried at the front of the mahatta river. Have had 4 on but only landed one so far. It was an undersized.

Released an 86 cm spring on the coal harbour side of the narrows....was nice to have some action....gonna try mahatta again tomorrow with sockeye gear

Mahatta was dead, cliffe was dead, saw a humpback near mahatta....that was cool looks like the fish farm 500 meters from the creek is doing a huge expansion....thats awesome
