VHF Radio

Have a pretty old VHF radio and it doesn't talk (or even squelch) anymore. Do they have built in speakers that die after a few decades ? Anyone have a used one they want to sell ? Mine is an I Com I think... be nice to get the same mounting width.
Also. my antenna broke about a foot off the top last year, but the radio still worked after that.. I assume a shorter antenna will just result in less range ?

i suggest picking up a standard horizon GX2200 with a Shakespeare 8' antenna.
they all have built in speakers which die. shorter antenna which is not tuned can result in various things including mismatched impedance, power issues with the radio etc etc. replace both radio and antenna.

If it were me just replace with all new stuff that works. Remember this is your lifeline to help. Don’t cheap out you may need that one day and want it to work. Don’t forget to register your MMSI # too.
