Hey all... Heading up to desolation sound for the first time, and my honeymoon, about 10 days or so first couple weeks of august. Looking for a few tips if anyone cares to share. Would love to come home with a couple Halibut however from what i have read seems they are more of a spring catch up there. Also interested in salmon and ling cod... Thanks in advance.

Adam - been 45 years since we made are first cruise to Desolation Sound. Most of the time we targeted prawns but these are some of the fishing highlights. In the 70's did well in Homfray channel around Lloyd Pt. north of Prideaux Haven. Fresh coho barbequed on the beach, doesn't get much better. Anchovies were so thick they blocked out our flasher sounder. In the 90's we had an exceptional day at Sarah Pt. using Army Truck hoochies when no-one else was getting anything.
Our best for lings was about 8 years ago at Hole in the Wall when anchored in Octopus Islands. Hope this helps. Ted

Thanks for the info Ted! Will let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed...

Guys were fishing the East side of Savory when we were up there. There was also a refuge cove derby last week. Apparently guys fish just outside of it.

just a note that Octopus islands and a ton of other areas are now RCAs so no fishing allowed around there. There are many RCAs in the Desolation sound area. check your regs before you go.
