I tried for Hali on Friday at the Mudhole and had the same result as you. Lots of boats out there and it didn't seem like there was much going on.Fished Halibut Saturday off Constance.
Saw a quit a few guys on anchor on or near Constance in all the usual spots and talked to several.
Nobody had any hali. including us.
Anyone with a success story?
Sounds to me like it’s time for me to go trout fishing until the feeder chinooks show up I don’t like the chance of killing wild Coho looking for a hatchI tried for Hali on Friday at the Mudhole and had the same result as you. Lots of boats out there and it didn't seem like there was much going on.
Picked up a Chicken yesterday right off the bat out a few miles off Albert Head. Had it fowl hooked on a salmon head, we thought it was big or a skate but were pleasantly surprised when I hand bombed it dangerously into the boat. Thought we were going to be into it after a quick win and getting a spring on with a spoon trailing out the back but alas is spit the hook. No other bites 7am-2pm.
I bet you didn't release the illegally caught foul hooked fish?

"It is illegal to wilfully foul hook a salmon. If you accidentally foul hook a salmon in the ocean, you can keep it. If you foul hook a salmon, wilfully or accidentally, in any lake or stream, including the tidal parts of coastal streams, you must release it immediately"It is not against the law to retain a fish that was foul hooked in the salt chuck, as long as its legal to retain.
Edit: the regs state the above for salmon; can’t find anything specific on hali
wow great posting !!!! lolI bet you didn't release the illegally caught foul hooked fish?
