So while we have you here, can you confirm that chinook is still open for retention until a notice is posted on the DFO Fishery Notice system?

If so, do you have an estimated timeline for when a notice is expected to be posted?
Yes, it will remain open until it’s offically closed on the website once the legal documents are approved and filed. Likely tonight, but asap.

Fishery Officers were conducting recreational fishing inspections at the Brechin Boat launch all morning on April 16th as fishermen were returning to the launch. Of all the fishermen that returned to the dock, you were the only ticket that was issued that day since your fish was measured by the officers at slightly over 60 cm, nearly 2 cm under size (the minimum size being 62 cm, not "nearly 62 cm") The fish was seized and is being held in Nanaimo as evidence should you choose to dispute it; the court date you were given for Nanaimo court house is located at the bottom of the ticket and explained to you.

We don't appreciate being called "Power Hungry idiots with badges and GUNS", measure your fish properly and you wont be charged.

Welcome to the forum. I was just thinking yesterday that we need people from enforcement and the policymakers to help us understand just how it all works.
I have another question.
Are you able to describe, in detail, the directives you and/or your colleagues are given by your bosses when illegal netting takes place by First Nations persons or anyone else on BC Rivers?

What do you think their policy is. Turn a blind eye and hide in the corner to avoid any repercussions that may be detrimental to any advancement in the organization. Same policy it is right across the country. Much easier to go after the poor sap that bonked a fish 1 cm to small the criminal, how dare he take one of the kings fish home, those are the kings fish to distribute not theirs. Stay home and get stoned,, they got this !!

Please stop defending someone who kept an undersized fish, if 61cm is acceptable, how long will it be until 55cm is acceptable ? Fishcop is just another person who cares about the fishery

Yea dumb butt for keeping an undersized fish and should be fined
But in the same sense them righteous pricks have turned a blind eye to the poaching on the Fraser for years and years

You are aware lots of other areas on the island are 45cm min?
