I run all my gear on 30lb maxima ultra green and sometimes (40lb leaders, but thats going for the big bucks in okanagan or shu etc) , but I would say no lighter then 12lb but 15-20lb would be a good range to have depending on what size fish your trolling for.

I thought that would be over kill for trout up to 6-7 lbs?

I use 15 pound test, anything less then that and the line gets twisted to ****.

That's an awesome tip. Line twisting seems to be a b?tch with gang trolls even with multiple swivels.

I was using the same rod for casting and bobbing but I might have to have setup 2 rods for trolling and one for casting - with lighter line on it.
