It would be great if any party showed some willingness to expand and nurture our salmon stocks, not to mention protecting the rivers.

So you call him horrible???....... WHY because he has to clean up a shitpile of mess the liberals created? imagine you have a boat 40% done and spend thousands on it do you just trow it away because(site C) yeah in know was this his fault NO, one word CRUSTY and her rich backdoor deals.
people seem to forget How BAD crusty was and all the money she leeched for her benefit....place she lives in for free???? hmmm
how many remember the liberals and the government cut backs bill17 ...for one I personally lost my job because of it along with many of my friends ,how about HST ....more $$$$$$$$ down the *******, did she ever do anything about the environment?? UUMMM NO in fact she killed alot of issues malahat dumping site ,School cut backs teachers strike and at the end she says ok we lost in court sorry people NOT GOOD ENOUGH ,the list is endless with her in power.....

Back when we had all the fighting with DFO I wrote many MP,Mayor, MLA and John being a local personal was one of the firsts to respond to me , in fact he personally called me to have a meeting with him and we discussed on how the system works and what I can do to get more results. I never got any other political person do that.
hes only been in power for a bit yet hes done alot already yesterday announcing first step into fixing sooke road and MORE to come FINALLY not lets do another study they are starting work immediately........ libs did nothing for the whole term BTW......

Toll bridges are free now. Isn’t that enough?? ;)
BCL built those damn bridges and put a hefty toll on ‘em. NDP made them free for us. Communities in the valley should show their gratitude in the next election.
But .... hold on. Price of crude is going up everyday. our carbon tax, gas prices, $10/day daycare, Uber, Site C. Where did all the good jobs go to then??
They took the tolls off so now everybody gets pay for them instead of the people that chose to buy cheaper real estate and commute.

NDP claims they we are too far into it now, so it must be completed.
Won’t be need more electricity if we are all supposed to switch over to electric cars instead of using fossil fuels??

I Definitely agree we need more alternate fuel sources. I just don't believe we are getting enough of it here for our 12 billion dollars. I don't know who did the original estimating, but they are pretty much doubling the budget on this one, and that's not acceptable!

yeah this^^^^
Seems like some Folks don’t mind paying 2.5 times what they were told they would. Myself, I’ve got a problem with that.

If throwing good money after bad is a sign of things to come this Province is in real trouble.

Catching the right tides, winds I often sail early mornings 2 am etc... Passing a few miles from Van, Victoria, Nanaimo and all along this coast every city is lit up like a Griswald christmas tree. Conservation insistence on not just lit up cities but in every aspect of power use could vastly decrease consumption. Destroying a pristine wilderness with Site C is unthinkable in the context of alternatives.

1o million to fix or make it safer the road from west shore to Sooke. Hopefully Horgan gets it done from Sooke to Renny before him and Weaver get a divorce lol..

Nice sentiments, only if you could stop the population growth on this planet. What are the alternatives you’re talkin’ about? Wind farms? Solar farms? Nuclear? Thermal? Who has the expertise in this province to deliver those projects and do it on time/within budget?

Still not sure why NDP didn’t kill site c with the $4bln sunken cost to prevent more damage to environment/economy. Didn’t voters pick them just b/c of promises like that?? What happened to $10/day childcare? Where the next wave of jobs are going to come from? Apparently, foreign investment in the south coast real estate is being looked at as a powerhouse to government revenues. So much for affordable living in this province!

BCRingo: "Apparently, foreign investment in the south coast real estate"

In clear language Chinese colonization of BC and as you look across the kitchen table... your family.

Remember Gordon Campbell's Clean Energy Policy? The contracts he did with the Independent Power Producers - Run of River projects? We are paying the owners of IPP's approximately 500 million to 1 billion a year over the going private rate for hydro power, and that is going to happen every year for the next 50 plus years! Campbell could have easily bought the power from Washington state for a fraction of what we are paying. Don't forget ICBC and how the Liberals stole billions out of the corporation and drove it into into the ground, just so they could say they balanced the budget - and yet people are still brainwashed into thinking the BC Liberals are the best money managers! Here is 200 pages of how the Liberals have screwed us over the years.....https://www.scribd.com/document/346759081/May-I-take-your-order-please

I am saying will the last person going to bed / leaving work, please shut the damn lights out, for starters. "Stop population growth" If **** sapiens persists same old, same old the we are a virus (consumes it's host and thereby itself becomes extinct). We are just an animal species and a long shot BCR but I choose optimism, in the context of the words of Winston Churchill
“For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use to be anything else.” P.S... he legislated blackouts... we should too. The hour is late.

“It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy, and the handicapped.” - Hubert H. Humphrey

We didn't even need that power it was just a cash gift to his friends. We had Burrard thermal power plant in case of a low water year that ran on you guessed it Natural Gas. That dirty stinking poluting Natural Gas. Now we want to Liquify Natural Gas ship it to China at the taxpayers cost (watch your Hydro Bill} and we will call it clean because China would otherwise burn coal. Thats what site C is all about and we get to pay for all of it. On this file Horgan inherited a stink bomb.

That's right, and the dams built by the Independent power producers, generated very little power during the fall and winter, when it was needed. In the spring and summer they generated almost all their power, when it wasn't needed, and BC Hydro couldn't even sell it! BC Hydro actually let the water spill over their own dams because they were locked into long term contracts to buy from the Independent Power Producers.

So you call him horrible???....... .

Yep, I do indeed call him Horrible.

Understand completely about Crispy & Her Crooks.
They definitely needed a very swift & strong kick in the butt. IMO, they got it.
In Spades.
Think perhaps they have learned their lesson? Maybe...

But... Johnny Me Boy slid into "power" in the sleaziest way possible.
And before he did that my Friend, both he and his lap dawg Weaver LIED Directly to me.
While looking me in the eyes.
Personally.
And then they caved into pressure from the anti's regarding wildlife management in this province.
I could give a Rat's Behind whether that involved grizzlies, gophers or skunks.
They Lied
.
And they set Precedence for the abandonment of Science managing wild lands and wild resources in favor of uninformed, inexperienced, urban dweller's emotions.

Right at that point, it becomes personal for me.
The LYING I expect from politicians.
But even with them I have a problem with any that smile reassuringly, and look me smack dab in the eyes while doing so.
Now, toss in effing with natural resource management, and allowing even a foot in the door to disregard proper management practices... let alone crowing and encouraging more of that???

There are a host of other issues I have, but in the interest of keeping this a little shorter, and me not popping a heavy fuse, suffice it to leave it at this...

Love ya Buddy, but on this we will have to agree to disagree.
I am going to do every single thing I can to ensure he and his lap dawg are gone as soon as possible.
And never ever come back if I can possibly help that too.

Cheers,
Nog

While I may not agree with everything they've done so far and what they are still planning but overall I find this government a huge improvement. Soldier on Mr. Horgan!

The fast ferry fiasco was a total cluster*uck that Glen Clark does and should have to own. As pointed out below however, Christy Clark's pet projects gone awry are several orders of magnitude greater than that ferry fiasco. In total the ferry's cost around $400M. Putting that in perspective with the corporate handouts/mega projects like Site C and others below it's safe to say reckless spending is not confined to any one political party. As others have mentioned here, getting big corporate and union donations out of political campaigns is the best way to end this cycle of corruption. I'll give Horgan credit (for now) for at least taking a steps in the right direction on that front.

Don't forget about Christy's $400 million leaky umbrella, the 1 Billion cost overrun on the Convention Centre, the billion overrun on the ice bomb bridge, the debt free LNG wet dream, the billion dollar communication system that doesn't work, the massive deficit at ICBC and BC HYdro among others might be part of the reason that crew is gone.

There is a cycle in BC that takes place. The natural political preference is a moderate center/right coalition, (wether you call it Socred, Liberal or Conservative) and this coalition usually stays in power for 3-5 election cycles before the inevitable progression of corruption becomes too entrenched and blatant. They then need to be kicked out to refresh and reset with a new leader and some new blood in the coalition. The NDP then slides in, people having forgotten how bad they were the last time they were in (usually 15 or more years previously) and believe the message that the socialist philosophy of the last NDP regime has been replaced by a new less socialist philosophy (which is never true) . They mess up the business environment, increase taxes and run up debt. This election was past due for the coalition ouster, as corruption had reached high levels, but the NDP still only finished second buoyed by winning a few seats via the irresponsible bribe of removing tolls on the new Port Mann replacement and then were made kings by Weaver. The wild card now is if they institute 'electoral reform" and get rid of first past the post in favour of proportional representation. That could change the BC cycle and could plunge BC into perpetual coalition governments like the most dysfunctional European parliaments where extreme left or right parties (usually left) have over-proportional power (like the greens have now) in perpetuity. If the current election format is kept, the cycle should continue and we can expect a return to a center/right coalition next election, providing it stays together through the leader selection process.
