Remote Allison Harbour Crabbing

Never seen a commercial crabber in Allison Harbour before just too remote needing to cross the entire Queen Charlotte Straight to get there. He was picking up his traps which covered the entire harbour. We caught no crabs when at one time an hour set would produce. Market prices must be making it worthwhile. I am assuming this guy was operating legally? No regs for these guys except crab size and sex?

Interesting as it can be hit or miss for crab in there. Now it will be miss for a while.

Long way to go for a few crabs.

Thanks for posting

They have areas specific to their license. They can transfer the license area to area but there's a process and there has to be room in the area for another crab license.
Pot numbers are restricted with the amount dependant on the area and sometimes subarea.
There are regs they have to abide by.
I commercial crabbed 15 years ago so some of my knowledge may ne outdated.
