Purchase of a lease return or new engine

I'm replacing my Mercury 115 4 stroke and debating on of whether I should purchase a new motor or look into buying a lease return. Any thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Thinking of repowereing soon myself and I'm sure a lease return would work well but because I am extremely anal with my gear I like the idea of breaking a motor in myself and running it the way I like. So for me I'm thinking new is the answer just have to suck up the price

I bought my boat in 2011 with a 2003 lease return that had been on since about 2006. It's been good, but is probably a time bomb now. Only a 50hp merc efi 4s.

I saw a couple of slides recently that featured printouts of the hours of a couple of rental Merc 60s from Disneyland. I think the lowest one had around 11,000 hours on it. You might be good for a bit still!
