Prawn Puller on Scotty Swivel Mount?

Time

Well-Known Member
Built a trap puller last fall and sized it to fit onto the Scotty swivel downrigger mount. Haven't tried it yet, but recent posts on another thread have other manufactured pullers being set on their own mounting bracket.
Is there a problem using the Scotty swivel mount?
Anybody had a bad experience?
Thanks

Nope, several trap puller manufacturers build their units to fit onto Scotty mounts with no problem.

Works with my puller but it is not home made. The amount of torque on the mount will depend on your design.
A safety leash to the boat is a good idea. Just like a kicker on a tinny.

Tips

Yep, I've run my ace line hauler off the swivel mount for 3 years, 4 traps with weight no problem.

I have a homemade puller and I bought a Scotty rigger base and modified it to mount the puller and it works fine.

Ok thanks guys.
I'm reassured now.
Just about ready to try prawning when it warms up a bit.
